New Committee and Social Events

The club has a new committee with a few new faces.

ANZAC Day

as the Monday meeting this week was the day before ANZAC Day our new president Fay bought in some family memorabilia and put on a display in honour of ANZAC Day. She has compiled an extensive family history which gives an interesting insight into early life in Coffs Harbour.

Mother’s Day Raffle

There is a special Mother’s Day raffle to be drawn on Monday 8th May at the meeting. The prize is a basket of personal care items for that special woman in your life, your Mum!

Blueberry Tour and Free Lunch at the Sikh Temple Woopi

Thursday 4th May at 10:00am

We tour the Blueberry factory at the old Bunnings site on the corner of Englands Road and Isles Drive at 10:00am. Covered in shoes (no thongs or sandals) must be worn and no loose jewellery to be worn. These are safety requirements of the Blueberry factory.

Then off to visit the Woolgoolga Sikh Heritage Museum 10-12 River Street at 12:00pm.

Afterwards we go across the road to the Sikh Temple for a free vegetarian lunch at 12:30pm (Head to be covered Men and Ladies). Please notify us if anyone has any food allergies.

Conducted Tour of Shoreline Retirement Complex 7th June 10:00am

Looking after your house and garden getting a bit much for you? Thinking of moving into a retirement complex?

Let’s go on a guided tour of the Shoreline units after tea and coffee at their own cafe. Parking at Park Beach Plaza car park.

Again we need numbers ASAP and Phyllis Taylor is the contact (0405 805 415).

Short Courses:

One issue the new committee and all tutors are currently debating is running a bunch of short workshops and courses that will go for one or two days. There will be a schedule published so you know what will be coming up in the next few weeks and you will be encouraged to book a spot on each course.

The first one planned is Password management. Bruce Pollack will be running this and we are hoping to run it in the next couple of weeks.

Other Topics on our list are:

• Social Media Facebook Snapchat etc. and how to ensure your privacy
• How to send photos to friends via Email, SMS, Facebook Messenger etc
• How to use Apple Siri and Google Voice
• Streaming services Netflix, Stan Foxtel etc.
• Making conference calls on your mobile phone
• Using you phone calendar
• And many more…

For this program to be successful we need as much input as possible from you, the members. Don’t be afraid to ask because you think it’s a dumb question. Sometimes the simplest of things are what baffles us when learning something new.
