It’s been a while between newsletters!
You are all invited to our 21st birthday celebrations current members, members we haven’t seen for a while and even friends and family on Monday 14th August at 9am.
The Mayor will be there to cut the cake, there will be reps from The Fone Doctor, The Apple Store, The SOS computer folk. We will have the Men’s Shed Band to entertain us and a lovely morning tea supplied. Please make this morning a chance to promote Coffs Seniors Computer Club and put us on the map again.
Short Courses
We are slowly building a schedule of short courses to run. Most of these will be 1 to 2 hours duration.
First of these will be this coming Monday 31st
How to Use Maps and GPS systems and using AI
Bruce Pollock will give a short presentation on using maps and GPS systems. Learn how to use maps on your phone so you don’t get lost anymore!
He will also talking about AI (Artificial Intelligence) and how it can assist you.
There have been quite a few news stories about AI such as ChatGPT recently. Bruce will briefly explain what AI is and what you can do with it.
Helpers Needed!
Front Desk Volunteers
We need some extra volunteers to man the front desk on Monday mornings. This doesn’t just mean the ladies, it would be nice to see a few blokes on the desk. We are an equal opportunity employer! Main tasks are collecting money, marking off the attendance sheet and issuing raffle tickets.
We will run training sessions on using the Square software that handles credit card payments on a test system after 9:00am so there is no pressure of having a queue of people waiting to pay.
I would also like some assistance to help run our Website. Some knowledge of WordPress would be great but I am willing to give anyone basic training.
Scanning Old Paper Records
We need a few volunteers to scan our old paper records
We have paper records going back to the initial start of the club in 2002. If all these records are scanned into electronic documents and uploaded into our cloud storage then they can be made available to anyone with the appropriate access.
This will be an ongoing project over weeks or months.
That’s all Folks!
Cheers,
Ian Scott
